In Ireland, 2013 will be remembered for its abundance of fruit. If you were so inclined you might like to make a vitamin C rich jelly from the berries that are currently dripping from the trees like the one Hugh Fearnly-Whittingstall wrote for The Guardian. Alternatively, leave them for our feathered friends who can feast before the coming winter months ahead.

Lovely photo Dee. I didn’t realise until now that it was possible to use the Rowan berries for making jelly. Pity I don’t have any growing here….. might just nip over the ditch to the neighbours garden 🙂
Thanks Mary 🙂 no I wasn’t sure hence googling and finding The Guardian recipe. There’s lots of old lore surrounding the Sorbus, this could have been a much longer post (how Hugh’s the fence 😉
