21.05.2015..Launch of Dublin Garden Festival at Christ Church Cathedral…Pictured here are Diarmuid Gavin with Julia Goncerz and Evan Leonard from St. Audens National School, Cooke St, Dublin 8.Diarmuid Gavin was in Christ Church Cathedral today to launch the second annual Dublin Garden Festival.The Dublin Garden Festival, which is taking place from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st June 2015, will feature horticultural displays, urban gardens, birds of prey, a Mad Hatters Tea Party, a petting zoo, craft demonstrations, Irish artisan food, live entertainment and much more.‘Open your Imagination’ is the theme of this year’s festival and the cathedral will be adorned with floral installations and props so that it is transformed into an enchanting magical wonderland. Hundreds of flowers will be used to create a stunning display of contemporary and traditional floral designs, under the lead of artistic director and award-winning floral artist, Christopher White.Diarmuid Gavin, speaking at the launch today, said “It is great to be involved with the Dublin Garden Festival this year. It is a testament to Christ Church that they can have such a magnificent event right in the heart of the city with something for all the family.”Guest speakers will also include Irish media personality and broadcasters Eamon Dunphy and Ivan Yates; former Green Party politician and author of ‘Trevor’s Kitchen Garden’, Trevor Sargent and gardening expert Helen Dillon. Jane McCorkell, Landscaping Architect and 5-Time Gold medal winner at Bloom and award-winning florist and Chelsea Flower Show medallist Christopher White will also speak at the Festival.
