{"id":329,"date":"2010-10-12T20:23:00","date_gmt":"2010-10-12T19:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gsu.eventmedialabs.com\/?p=329"},"modified":"2015-07-20T22:50:24","modified_gmt":"2015-07-20T21:50:24","slug":"fairytale-fungi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greensideup.ie\/fairytale-fungi\/","title":{"rendered":"Fairytale Fungi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_OvxlUzzvECE\/TLSs-FBq37I\/AAAAAAAAAXI\/WqzD2sW4Pek\/s1600\/fungi.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_OvxlUzzvECE\/TLSs-FBq37I\/AAAAAAAAAXI\/WqzD2sW4Pek\/s320\/fungi.jpg?resize=320%2C240\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" border=\"0\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fly Agaric (amanita muscaria)<\/p>\n<p>Is it just me\u00a0or has anyone else noticed\u00a0all the unusual mushrooms and toadstools this year?\u00a0 Poking their caps through the\u00a0 wood chip barks, the lawn and the hedgerows we&#8217;ve seen all sorts of shapes and colours.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not an expert (at all) on fungi so have left them be, but these\u00a0Fly Agaric\u00a0really caught\u00a0our eye.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;ve been growing along the banks on the side of the lanes close to our house and\u00a0are surrounded by folklore (including witches on broomsticks, Alice in Wonderland and good luck stories). They are however, poisonous and should be left well alone.<\/p>\n<p>I <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sacredearth.com\/ethnobotany\/plantprofiles\/flyagaric.php\" target=\"_blank\">found a great site with more information if anyone&#8217;s interested<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>My own garden&#8217;s been slightly neglected of late due to a variety of reasons (school, children, visitors, house renovation, shopping, workshops etc, etc) so I haven&#8217;t been weeding much or sowing).\u00a0We&#8217;ve been harvesting loads of veg though &#8211; tomatoes, cucumbers, sweetcorn, spring onions, kale and\u00a0runner
